Privacy policy
This policy explains how Careers Connect handles personal information in its learning management system.
Information we collect
Identity and contact details; Unique Student Identifier information; enrolment and education records; identity and compliance documents; assessment work and feedback; attendance, placement and incident records; payment and invoice records; certificates; support messages; security and audit events.
Why we use it
We use this information to deliver training, verify identity and eligibility, administer enrolment and assessment, manage placements and payments, issue certificates, support learners, meet RTO and legal obligations, prevent misuse, and maintain auditable records.
Storage and service providers
Core application data is held in Careers Connect's PostgreSQL database. Authentication and uploaded-file storage use Supabase services. When configured, limited transaction, email, and learning-event information may be processed by Stripe, PayPal, email providers, or an xAPI Learning Record Store. Provider locations may involve overseas processing; Careers Connect assesses and configures providers before production use.
Security
Access is role-restricted and audited. Administrative access requires multi-factor authentication when production policy is enabled. The service uses encrypted transport in production, verified payment webhooks, input validation, database row-level security, backups, and incident-response procedures. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Retention, deletion and de-identification
Records are kept only as long as needed for training delivery, legal, regulatory, audit, dispute, and RTO retention duties. When no duty requires continued retention, information is securely deleted or de-identified. A deletion request may therefore be partly or wholly declined with an explanation.
Access, correction and complaints
Signed-in students can download their LMS data and submit access, correction, deletion, or complaint requests from the privacy centre. You may also contact [email protected]. Careers Connect will acknowledge, assess, and record the outcome of each request.
Data breaches
Suspected privacy incidents are investigated and contained. Where the Australian Notifiable Data Breaches scheme applies and serious harm is likely, Careers Connect will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.
